Human fascination with fungi stretches back thousands of years. Ancient rock art in Algeria suggests mushrooms held spiritual significance over 7,000 years ago, while early Chinese medical texts revered reishi as one of nature’s most precious gifts—its relevance continuing today alongside emerging modern scientific research.

Fungi form vast underground networks that connect ecosystems, trade nutrients with plants, build healthy soils and regulate the Earth’s carbon cycle. Despite their importance, fungi were only formally recognised as their own kingdom of life in 1969.

At Moon Mushrooms, we are endlessly fascinated by these ancient organisms. Inspired by both traditional wisdom and modern understanding, we cultivate our mushrooms using biodynamic principles that observe natural and celestial cycles and treat the farm as a living, interconnected system.

Alongside this, we remain open to emerging ideas around environmental resonance and subtle natural forces, exploring how they may interact with living systems, while staying grounded in careful observation and craft.

We manage the full process from cultivation to extraction and bottling on our forest garden near the ancient capital city of Winchester and use naturally sourced water from the aquifer 50m below our feet.
